Electronics Design Engineer
Category : Systems and electronics
PCB Design • Firmware • RF • Production-Ready Hardware
I work with individuals, startups, and product teams to take electronic products from early concept through to production. My role often starts before a schematic exists and continues well past the first prototype, covering requirements clarification, system architecture, PCB design, embedded firmware, bring-up, validation, and manufacturing handoff.
I focus on building hardware that continues to work reliably outside the lab. That means clear scope, disciplined engineering decisions, realistic schedules, and designs that translate cleanly into manufacturing, not fragile prototypes.
What I Deliver
I take ownership of the complete electronics stack and its real-world behavior, whether the project begins as a rough idea or an existing design that needs to be stabilized, optimized, or prepared for production.
My work typically includes:
- Requirements clarification, feasibility analysis, and system-level architecture
- Component selection with lifecycle awareness and BOM planning
- Schematics and multi-layer PCB design (low-noise, SI/PI-aware, EMI-conscious) using Altium Designer and KiCad
- Hardware bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis
- Embedded firmware development (C, C++, Rust, Embedded Linux), with attention to low power, stability, and update strategy
- Prototype builds and hands-on bring-up using in-house equipment
- Extensive in-house testing: functional, stress, power, signal integrity, and pre-compliance checks
- Design refinement driven by test results and failure analysis
- DFM/DFT and manufacturing handoff, including Gerbers, BOMs, assembly notes, and test documentation
- You receive full source files and complete production data, no black boxes.
Relevant Experience
- RF and connectivity: BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE, GNSS, Sub-GHz, matching networks, integration constraints, and PCB antenna design
- Power electronics: AC/DC, DC/DC, PoE, battery systems, charging, protection, power-path management, and thermal trade-offs
- Embedded systems: STM32, ESP32, nRF52/nRF53, i.MX, with a strong focus on low-power and long-term reliability
- Product constraints: Wearables and compact devices, industrial and automotive-style interfaces (RS-485, CAN, LIN), sensor-driven systems, and edge-AI devices where appropriate
How I Work
- Clear scope and milestones before design starts
- Prototyping and testing planned from the beginning, not added later
- Practical engineering decisions without unnecessary complexity
- Strong emphasis on quality and repeatability
- NDA-friendly
- Direct, straightforward communication
My goal is to reduce design risk and shorten iteration cycles by catching issues early, before they become expensive field failures or compliance problems.
What You Can Expect
- Working prototypes that reflect production intent
- Early identification of EMI, power, and signal-integrity risks
- Fewer PCB re-spins and faster convergence
- Clean, reviewable design files
- Manufacturing-ready documentation
- Hardware prepared for regulatory pre-qualification testing
