Music Producer and Composer

I am a music producer and composer with 6 years of experience. I have refined my capacity to compose pieces on Musescore and produce them using Pro Tools. The wide variety of my
music is such that I can compose for various purposes; dramatic film music, catchy
advertisement music, relaxing music, motivational music etc. I have chosen six examples
from my upcoming album which capture this depth. All songs pertain to two characters;
Omar and Meilif. Both characters are undertaking dramatic journeys, yet their attitudes in
these journeys are drastically opposed, which is reflected in the music. Through exploration
of these two characters, a wide variety of moods are felt; eg tension, ease, drama, joy.
I chose to present Rest of Meilif first as I believe that it is the work of highest standard, yet in
the album the order will run as follows; omar’s prelude, meilif’s beginning, omar’s walk, the
incline, intermission, rest of Meilif. Songs 2,3,4 flow perfectly into each other.
I am happy to submit further music to convey a particular emotion if the below is
insufficient.

Rest of Meilif
A symphonic piece designed to capture the drama of an archetypal cinematic battle (eg Lord
of The Rings.) The irony is, although this piece contains great drama, it is only due to the
temperament of Meilif; his uneasy attitude is such that he sees drama and tension wherever
he goes.
He is supposed to be resting, having completed his journey, yet he cannot escape the noise
within his head. He is apprehensive about the future and disappointed about the past which
has always failed to live up to his expectations.
The voices and piano right hand provide the main melody of the song. Chord changes are
emphasized on the violincello. Violin transitions between accompanying the melody and
playing countermelody. Piano left hand drives the beat of the song.

Omar’s Prelude
Introduction to Omar. He has not yet begun his arduous journey, yet as he anticipates it, he
is calm rather than apprehensive. The mood is thus peaceful and upbeat, tinged with light
excitement. Melody driven by the piano and voices; alto and basso. Violincello emphasizes
the chord changes. Violin shifts between accompaniment and countermelody.

Meilif’s Beginning
Meilif is also undertaking a huge journey, but unlike Omar, he is conflicted; on the one
hand he is excited for the reward that awaits him at the other side, on the other hand
he is apprehensive about the challenges he must face, and aware that his
expectations never live out to reality.
Arrangement begins with melody on piano and violin, chord changes on voices and
violincello. Mood shifts from apprehensive to dramatic with crescendo and
introduction of new melody, which is introduced by the piano, with the violin playing a
new countermelody (timestamp: 1:03). The drama intensifies when the violin and
trumpet adapt the new melody and the voices introduce ominous chords.
Omar’s walk
Chronologically directly after Meilif’s Beginning, this orchestral arrangement depicts
the beginning of Omar’s journey. Omar, unlike Meilif, embraces his journey his
satisfaction and excitement. The piece is divided into three sections; in the first
section which is light and peaceful, the piano drives the melody with strings
emphasizing chord changes (timestamp: 0:00-1:51). The voices are predominant in the
second section, which is far more uneasy but nonetheless injected with hope (1:52
2:46). At the end of the second section there is a shift from minor to major, marking
the introduction of the third section, which ends the uneasiness and returns a
celebratory mood (2:47- end). Piano left hand and violincello plays countermelody,
voices, violin, piano right hand play melody.

The Incline
Now Meilif’s journey begins. His journey conveys a far more apprehensive mood, yet
nonetheless the piece is always tinged with hope. Piano drives the melody. Violin varies
between accompanying the piano and providing countermelody. Voices and violincello
emphasize choral changes. The song builds up to a chorus which is repeated once, with
subtle changes.

Intermission
Orchestral arrangement that is designed to convey the feeling of rejoice that is earned after
extensive work or after a hard (metaphorical or real) battle has been won. Yet the right
temperament is required to enjoy the fruits of labour; thus this is Omar’s song. We saw in
Meilif’s rest that people like Meilif, even after successfully completing a challenge, can be
assaulted by unease.
Melody driven by voices and piano. Violin plays accompaniment and countermelody.
Chord changes emphasized by the violincello
