I am interested in providing freelance professional support in academic research, data collection, analysis, and field-based studies related to North Africa and the Middle East. I bring over ten years of experience working as an independent researcher, social worker, and journalist, supporting universities, international organisations, non-governmental actors, and media institutions across the region.
My background combines applied social research with hands-on fieldwork and both qualitative and quantitative analysis. I have supported academic and institutional research through literature reviews, survey and tool design, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and structured data collection in complex and fragile contexts. My contributions have informed studies, assessments, policy briefs, and media outputs addressing humanitarian conditions, migration dynamics, social protection, governance, and community resilience.
Alongside my research work, my experience as a social worker has strengthened my ability to engage ethically and professionally with diverse communities, including vulnerable populations. I consistently apply safeguarding principles, informed consent, confidentiality, and do-no-harm approaches throughout the research process. This has enabled me to conduct fieldwork and data collection with sensitivity, accuracy, and strong contextual awareness, particularly in displacement, protection, and social cohesion settings.
My work in journalism has further strengthened my analytical writing, documentation, and verification skills. I have produced research-informed articles, field reports, and narrative analyses that translate complex findings into clear and accessible outputs for academic, institutional, and public audiences. I am experienced in triangulating sources, verifying information, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and neutrality.
I am comfortable working independently or as part of international and multidisciplinary teams, both remotely and in the field. I am accustomed to meeting tight deadlines and delivering high-quality outputs, and I am proficient in research methodologies, data management tools, and reporting standards commonly required by academic institutions and international organisations. I work fluently in both Arabic and English and am experienced in multicultural research environments.
I would welcome the opportunity to support your research, data collection, analysis, or documentation needs on a freelance or project basis. I am available for short-term assignments, long-term research collaborations, and both remote and field-based work, as required
