During my experience in a medical environment, I participated in basic care by taking constants, helping with first aid and accompanying patients on a daily basis. I also assisted in the collection, contributed to the clinical follow-up and the completion of the files in the maternity ward, while ensuring traceability and the proper transmission of information to the care teams. This immersion allowed me to develop a better understanding of the link between medical care and administrative follow-up, as well as a strong sense of rigor, hygiene and confidentiality essential in a hospital context.
As a field worker, I participated in humanitarian assistance to refugees affected by the Sahel crisis in Burkina Faso. I helped identify vulnerable people, organize and distribute food, food vouchers and essential kits, while ensuring transparency and fairness in the process. I also provided local psychosocial support, promoted access to basic social services and relayed the concerns of beneficiaries to the programme managers. This mission allowed me to strengthen my capacity to intervene in an emergency context, in a sensitive environment where listening, human dignity and coordination with other humanitarian actors are essential.
During my internship in a medical environment, I provided social support to patients and their families in conjunction with the care team. I participated in the reception, the assessment of social needs related to the disease, the orientation towards appropriate assistance and structures, as well as the organization of procedures to promote continuity of care and return home. I also contributed to the psychosocial support of hospitalized people, taking into account their state of health, their family context and their resources. This experience allowed me to understand the importance of the multidisciplinary approach and the constant link between the medical and social aspects for a global support of the patient.
During my internship experience as a social worker, I accompanied people in vulnerable situations by listening, guiding and monitoring their needs. I participated in welcoming the public, in the social assessment of situations and in supporting administrative procedures. This immersion allowed me to strengthen my interpersonal skills, my sense of analysis and my ability to work in a team while maintaining a human, respectful and person-centered approach.
At the community level, I participated in raising awareness, listening and supporting local populations, in particular through home visits, collective information sessions and referral to available health and social structures. I contributed to the identification of priority household needs, risk prevention (health, protection, nutrition, hygiene) and the strengthening of the link between the community and existing services. This experience allowed me to develop a field approach focused on the active participation of beneficiaries, community mobilization and networking with local leaders and social partners.
